Nature, nothing but nature was around us for the last couple of weeks.
Not that this is a bad thing but every so often we get attracted by the cities. It doesn’t matter in which city we went, they all have this magical way to make us spend money.
This time we arrived in Wellington and were stunned by the view of skyscrapers (we already forgot that they exist).
Not far south of Welly there is an awesome free campground right at the sea, where we spend our nights. The photo below was taken right next to it. First we planned to climb onto that big rock, but I couldn’t leave my tripod alone for a second because the wind was insane. Here we felt that the nickname “Windy Welly” is really justified!
In Wellington we stocked up our food supply, sorted everything and spend many hours in the library. Libraries are the Mekka for travellers, they have power, wi-fi and a relaxing atmosphere. The Wellington City Library is by far the most beautiful and modern one, the inside looks like it is copied from a science-fiction movie.
Over time we caught New Zealand’s rugby fever and got up in the middle of the night to watch the worldcup games. At 4:00 am the party people in the pubs left and the rugby fans arrived. Ordering beer and breakfast at the same time is only possible at this kind of event.
We enjoyed our time in Welly but in the end nature called us back. Taking the ferry to the south island and waiting for new adventures to come.
