Thats why the 2 weeks wwoofing passed by so quickly and we had to plan our new route.
First we wanted to visit Taupo and do the Tongariro Northern Circuit, but the fact that we would need crampons and ice axes to manage the walk, led us in another direction.
We decided to drive down the east coast and make longer stops in Gisborne and Napier.
To begin with, we filled up our tank and foodstuff in Whakatane and headed to Opotiki.
A few kilometers east of Opotiki is a small gravel road leading to the coast. Mostly fishers spend their time there, but it is still a great spot to go to and make a fire.
This is where we met our 4 legged (friend) “Brian”, a dog with unknown origin.
Following us everywhere and enjoying to photobomb our pictures, this dog was sometimes really stressful.
We even had to cook on our cars’ rooftop and hide in it to safely eat.
To our amusement and annoyance, we discovered its faithful face in front of our door, the next morning.
Even though we enjoyed the beautiful landscape and nature with our new follower.
These stony beaches near Opotiki are the perfect place to try out the ND – Filter and take another kind of photos.
Smoothen the water and capturing a peaceful atmosphere.
